It is important to note that s biometric time clocks do not actually collect and store fingerprints. Instead, it saves a mathematical representation of the employee’s biometric data. When the biometric time clock scans a hand or finger during a supervised enrollment process, only an encrypted mathematical representation of the fingerprint is stored. As a result, it’s virtually impossible to duplicate the original image from that mathematical representation. Additionally, if employees question cleanliness, this concern should not be dismissed. Instead, you should assure employees that the time clock’s finger zone is not a hot zone for germs. In fact, it will be touched far less frequently than restroom door handles, water cooler spigots, or chairs in the break room.

How do we set the rules for holidays? What if an employee is required to work on a public holiday?

By default, exceptions are not pre-defined in the software. You must define your own, such as Paid Holiday, Paid Sick Day, Vacations, and so on.
Click Exceptions/Assignment from the lower left menu and click Add Exception. Enter the number of Paid Hours that applies to the Exception.
Enter the Coefficient pay, which is the pay the employee receives if they do work on the exception day.
For example, if you put 1.5 in this field and the employee works 6 hours on a day when the exception is assigned, their work hours will be multiplied by 1.5.

Dear Xpress Software,
We are a small company and have a maximum 50 employees. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 7AM to 6PM. In the past we have been having problems with Employees trying to cheat punch clocks. Some employees are punching in up to an hour prior to the shift starting. Is there a way to eliminate early punch in or late punch out? What happens if an employee in the morning punches in at 6AM and punches out at 7PM to get more hours on purpose?

With PayPunch you can easily round the hours and set-up the allowed Min. Registration Time and Max. Registration Time.
In the Enterprise Edition we have Block Rounding Rules available for eliminating anauthorized hours.
The Block Rounding Rules located in the right pane in the Shift Settings. It allows you to set specific times and overrides any settings in the Rounding Details. This rule applies only when the record comes through the time clock.
For example, you can add a rule to Registration In so that if an employee punches in between 6:00am and 7:00am, then the time will be rounded to 7:00am.
